IC Information
CHARACTER NAME: Laguna Loire
AGE: 44
CANON: Final Fantasy VIII
CANON POINT: End of game

FAMILY TYPES:
Nature Spirits: I chose this family because Laguna tends to be a man of many personalities; and each one of those personalities is heavily emphasized. The Nature Spirits less than picky nature in choosing their partners would definitely lend to Laguna's natural exuberance.

Virus Busters: The Virus Buster family is a most straightforward choice; as both they and Laguna share a strong sense of doing the right thing and believing in others. As well, Laguna's natural kindness and generosity would definitely attract those looking for a "Good Soul".

Dragon's Roar: A little more abstract of a choice, Laguna does share the same kind of pride and unwillingness to let bad things happen around him if he has anything to say about it. He also tends to take charge of situations regardless of what Ward or Kiros think and acts impulsively and on the fly; much like members of the Dragon's Roar family.

APPEARANCE: Laguna is a man of average size and build, standing at a modest 5'9" with a well toned physique; though obviously his muscle tone has suffered slightly from his age and lack of strenuous activities over the past 17 years. He has deep green eyes and shoulder length dark brown hair which he keeps the bangs of hanging down on the right side of his face while the other half clearly displays his pierced left ear.

His casual attire usually consists of a baby-blue button-up shirt with khaki slacks and sandals, though his travel attire is made up of a medium blue jacket with white studs and grooves, white undershirt, brown pants, black boots; however no matter what he wears, he will always have his Galbadian Military Dog Tags around his neck.

PERSONALITY: Laguna is what one might call a man of many faces, though most of those faces tend to be rather goofy or even downright nonsensical at times; even so, he is a kindhearted and generous individual whom his squad mates Kiros and Ward generally look to whenever a difficult decision must be made. His generosity even managed to cross generations in the form of a unique race of monsters known as Moombas; as during his stay in Shumi Village, he befriended a group of them and attempted to teach them to speak, though they only word they managed to learn was "Laguna". This would prove helpful during Squall's time in the D-District Prison as the Moombas working there were able to recognize Squall as Laguna's son through smelling his blood, proof of this being as they gathered around the injured Squall proclaiming "Laguna! Laguna!". With that connection made in their mind, the Moombas mobilized themselves to help Squall and his friends escape the prison.

Laguna himself tends to lean towards the side of optimism in almost every situation, preferring to search for a silver lining in the clouds rather than be put off of a task; such as when he decided to continue on his patrol in Centra despite having brought the wrong map, landing his group in the wrong location. However, if he takes the time to stop and think about the dangers of a situation, he can indeed become hesitant much like the time he threw Kiros and Ward over the edge of a cliff in order to save them from advancing enemy soldiers, only to himself take pause in following after realizing how high the cliff actually was. Regardless though, if a situation has to be followed through to the end or if his friends or loved ones are in danger, Laguna will easily push aside his doubts and fears in order to get done what needs to get done; an easy example of this being when he faced down and trapped the Sorceress Adel, an immensely powerful individual, just to get rescue his step-daughter Ellone.

Because of his over abundance of optimism, Laguna tends to come off as silly or even socially awkward; such as his habit of making up words and phrases if he can't think of what the actual ones are or his unique trait of developing crippling leg cramps when approached by beautiful women to the extent he is forced to his knees and will even limp briefly afterwards. While this often makes him the butt of jokes coming from Kiros and Ward, his unique personality did ultimately attract the attention of his first love, Julia Heartilly and even his eventual wife Raine Loire.

When it comes to thinking on the fly, Laguna is very much a do first ask questions later sort of individual; often throwing himself into a situation with little to no forethought which Kiros and Ward will often berate him for, such as when he decided to investigate the Centra Excavation Site despite both Kiros and Ward commenting that it would be better for them to turn back. He does this however so that he doesn't have time to second guess himself and therefore hesitate. He has however displayed a decent aptitude for coming up with effective plans off the top of his head, such as tampering with a few hatches in order to hinder the chase of pursuing Estharian Soldiers and triggering explosions in the excavation site that served the same purpose.

All in all, Laguna is a man with a firm sense of justice and refuses to back down when it comes to making sure that the people he cares about are alright. He may be a bit bumbling and clumsy, but at his core, he truly is a good man who looks for nothing more than to enjoy his life and watch his friends and family do the same.

HISTORY: The Story of a Soldier

SAMPLES

FIRST PERSON: A thread with Squall!

THIRD PERSON:
[Light. The first thing that filtered into Laguna's addled senses was an obnoxious amount of light that he tried desperately to shoo away before placing a hand to his forehead with a groan; he couldn't remember what he'd been doing the night before...but he suspected that it had to do with a large quantity of alcohol if his head was pounding like this. It took him a good few minutes, but eventually the nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right was enough to rouse the man from where he was lying as he slowly propped his aching body up into a sitting position; his hand falling away from his grimacing face to reveal...a forest.

A forest?! Laguna's eyes snapped fully open as he scrambled to his feet, looking around in all directions as he tried to figure out what exactly was going on; was this some kind of weird joke Kiros and Ward had played on him? Why was he in his old casual uniform? Had he dressed up like this for old times sake? A hundred different questions rolled around his mind, enough to distract him to the point where the back of his heel collided with something hard enough to send him sprawling back onto his behind with a loud thud.

With a groan, Laguna rubbed his lower back and turned his gaze in front of him to see what he'd tripped over...only to see his old AR-1 Machine Gun lying in front of him...and his SA-32 Handgun not too far off from it. What were his old weapons doing here now? There's no way Kiros and Ward would leave him unconscious with two live and loaded weapons for anyone to take advantage off...no, they were far too responsible for that.

Now more concerned than he'd been a minute beforehand, Laguna pulled himself to his feet and grabbed his weapons; naturally checking their safeties and holstering them before rubbing the back of his head with a deep sigh. He didn't have any clue where he was or why he'd been put there...all he could tell was that this was bound to be one hell of a morning.
